Congratulations to James Mathews who at the age of 46 last week completed the requirements to become the latest black belt member of Edinburgh Bushido, coming through the competitve grading in style James's achievement just goes to show that with hard work, dedication and good judo coaching anyone is capable of reaching black belt standard. Here at Edinburgh Bushido every member over a period of time is pushed to develop the BUSHIDO spirit, James has shown it in spades and we are all very proud!.
14/09/2011 Unfortunatly, due to work commitments the Wednesday kids class at David Lloyd has been put on hold, if the David Lloyd management are in agreement we will do our utmost to secure a new coach via JudoScotland that will be able to show the level of commitment required to run a junior Judo club. In the meantime please keep checking back here for news, as soon as we know what the David Lloyd wants to do we will update all members here.
Please note though that each and every member is more than welcome to join the junior section each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7-8 pm at the Mcleod Street Community Centre.
Thankyou all very much for both your patience and your support over the last several years.
Kind regards. Ray Sheerin.

Congratulations to Michael Gray on completing the theory requirements to achieve his First Dan today, its very rare for an adult to come into Judo and on each occasion fight and win each seperate kyu grade on the first attempt at each national grading, then go on to fight through and beat the line up all with Ippon scores on the very first try at a Dan grading. This is an amazing achievment and both Andy and Ray are very proud to have Mike as the newest Dan grade member of Edinburgh Bushido.
5th June Congratulations to Holly Sheerin who came joint third today in the Scottish Karate Governing Body National Kata Championships. And to Ray Sheerin who took first place in the over 18 years open to become the SKGB Scottish Kata Champion.
May 28th. Congratulations go to Michael Gray who fought with true Bushido spirit today at the National Dan grading at Alloa, fighting through the pool sheets with two ippon wins and going on to complete his three man line up in style with a further three ippon wins he is the latest Black belt grade to come through Edinburgh Bushido! Congratulations also go to Lewis who won 2 fights to win 20 points & Caroline who won her first fight as a first kyu to come away with 10 points!
May 19th. Edinburgh Bushido were the first club in Scotland to participate in the new system of participating BJA senior examiners sitting in on individual club gradings. Paul Laverty came through from Glasgow to sit in on the club gradings, which went extremely well. Not only did all the clubs Kai grade and Junior members pass with flying colours and congratulations go to them all, but all three examiners, Andy, Ray and Paul learned a great deal from the experience. In the future JudoScotland hope to extend this to all member clubs.
